The thick, durable silicone rubber shields the masked part even in high-temperature processes.
The glass cloth lets the tape follow the contour of the part, and the silicone adhesive keeps it from shifting on complex shapes. Silicone rubber is tacky by nature, so it also acts as a non-slip surface.
